A fun wedding under an oak tree in Devon

A few weeks ago Colin and Lisa tied the knot in a very special way in the company of close friends and family – and a few smurfs! The wedding venue was Coombe Farm Woods just outside of Tiverton in Devon. When Colin and Lisa asked us to do their wedding photography I knew this would be a special event – they wrote their own vows, had a blessing under an oak tree and made each other’s rings (Lisa is a professional silversmith and Colin took a course especially to help him make Lisa’s).

It was a big priority for the couple to have a laid back wedding with the focus on fun. In the build up to the wedding there was some joking about people coming to the wedding dressed as smurfs – apparently no-one actually thought it would happen but two guests did actually come dressed head to foot as smurf and smurfette – it certainly added an interesting element to the photography!

Wishing Colin and Lisa all the very, very best for their future together – congratulations!

Family Portraits in Newquay

So Barnaby returns … I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Barnaby every few months throughout his first year – just look at him now!! We offer family and kid’s portraits at home around Cornwall and also outdoor shoots for when the children get a little older. I love photographing babies in their home environment because they are so relaxed.

Vicki and Pietro at The Scarlet Hotel

Well – what can I say about Vicki and Pietro’s wedding … it really was such a beautiful and intimate day. They took so much time to plan and prepare a really bespoke event – all the details were so carefully thought out and that Jenny Packham dress is so elegant. The venue was the fabulous Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth on Cornwall’s north coast – near Newquay. Vicki and Pietro invited their nearest and dearest to spend the weekend with them in the luxury eco-hotel.

Michelle from Pocketful of Dreams was on hand – she helped plan and co-ordinate the event. She will be featuring some of the images in the near future to write a behind the scenes post about the day on her blog Pocketful of Dreams .

Pietro and Vicki call each other “Pie and Mash” – this was referenced several times throughout the day – just check out Vicki’s bespoke coat hanger for her dress! I’m a big fan of the stationary with custom made logo by Sugalily and the gorgeous laser cut place settings by Cutture .

The day Abby and Alex got married

Beautiful … that pretty much sums up this wedding for us. It was a total pleasure to photograph this wedding and to spend the day with such a lovely bunch of people. Congratulations Abby and Alex!

Rosteague offers options for both outdoor and indoor civil ceremony and as the weather had been awful in the week leading up to the event Abby and Alex had their fingers crossed for a ceremony in the garden as was their ultimate choice. The weather was on their side – as it approached midday it just got clearer and clearer.

I love the bridal suite where Abby and the girls got ready – it is jam packed with so many great details for photographs. Abby had her nearest and dearest around her all morning and there were plenty of tears as well as laughter. And just take a look at these flowers – I took far too many photos of them!!

Abby and Alex are heading off into the sunset for their honeymoon – well almost! They are going on a round the world trip for a YEAR! They will be spending most of their time in Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand … its a hard life but I suppose someone has to do it! :)

As always we’d like to pass on Abby and Alex’s thanks to all who helped make their wedding day so special …
