Steph and David Get Married

Trevenna Barns is a private wedding venue hidden on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. Steph and David and all their friends travelled from far and wide to have the outdoor ceremony they had dreamed of. This was a very laid back wedding – the best kind and a total pleasure to do their wedding photography.

Wishing Steph and David all the very best for their future together – congratulations!!

As seen in … Style Me Pretty

We’re very pleased to announce that one of our favourite weddings from earlier this year has been featured by the fabulous US wedding blog, Style Me Pretty . This is a great accolade to our wedding photography as they don’t often feature weddings from “this side of the pond”, and I’m pretty sure this is the first ever feature they’ve done on a Cornish wedding. The wedding was at Rosteague , near Falmouth – quite possibly one of the sweetest venues in Cornwall with options for an outdoor ceremony in the walled garden and right next to the sea. Susanne from Blue Carrot provided the floral design for this wedding – wonderful colours.

A Beachside Wedding in Rock, Cornwall

Being a wedding photographer in Cornwall is at its best when shooting a venue by the sea. Laura and Rob were married at St Enodoc Church in Trebetherick, near Rock. This small church nestled into a golf course in the sand dunes off the River Camel (opposite Padstow), was once covered in sand with only the wonky steeple showing.

See this from Wikipedia “from the 16th century to the middle of the 19th century, the church was virtually buried by the dunes and was known locally as “Sinking Neddy” or “Sinkininny Church”. To maintain the tithes required by the church, it had to host services at least once a year, so the vicar and parishioners descended into the sanctuary through a hole in the roof. By 1864 it was finally unearthed and the dunes were finally stabilized”.

Laura and Rob were lucky to have Laura’s parents’ garden as their wedding venue just a stones throw from both the church and nearby Daymer Bay. We spent the day with Rob and Laura and their nearest and dearest and darted out between rain showers for some photos. The speeches were hilarious and the catering absolutely first class – thanks for hosting us we had a great time and it was a pleasure to photograph your wedding!

And by the way … have you ever seen a wedding dress with pockets?!? What a great idea!

A note about rainy day weddings

June really has been wet. Yesterday we photographed another rainy wedding in Devon. Sitting in the office today with the rain pouring down outside makes me think about this topic again. I really can’t stress enough how from a photography angle – this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I know that’s not what you want on your wedding day but actually the cloud is your friend – its very flattering to have such even and soft light falling on your face as opposed to harsh bright sunlight which has a horrible habit of showing up every single line and wrinkle on your face and making people squint!

Just take a look at Anna and Paul’s favourite wedding photos. This was the wettest wedding we’ve ever photographed and the photos were such a success that they were featured in Perfect Wedding Magazine and Want That Wedding.

This one is my favourite …

A sneak peek of a wedding coming soon …

Whoever said rain has to stop play! We always seem to get the most spontaneous and unique portraits when its raining – I love this one from a recent wedding in Rock, Cornwall. More to follow soon.
