Rain, Rain Go Away …

In the light of the weather in the past few weeks (and since we have a very rare Saturday off!), I thought I’d post a few wet wedding pictures. Being a wedding photographer working in England (and particularly in Devon and Cornwall), rain and nasty weather is often a topic for discussion in the build up to someone’s wedding. Today I’ve been editing another wet wedding and as I’ve been sat here with the rain lashing against the windows – it seems appropriate to share a shots to prove that a wet wedding day does not mean a bad wedding day.

People often ask us what we’ll do if it rains when we’re shooting their wedding – its quite simple really – we just carry on. In fact if you’re up for it then we love going out in the rain. We have umbrellas and our cameras can withstand a certain amount of moisture so we say go out and play in the rain – you can always dry off and straighten out your hair afterwards. There’s something very atmospheric about wedding photos with umbrellas jutting around everywhere and a little wind to bring that element of spontaneity to the photographs.

Obviously there are a few things to consider if it rains and ideally we’d all like it to stay dry – but this is the UK – lets be realistic about the chances! In the planning stages of your wedding always have a plan A and plan B scenario and remember that if it does rain – your attitude towards the rain is the most important thing. Don’t let it get you down or stop you doing what you want to do. If you’re having fun your guests will too – you’ll all dry off.

P.S. Just as I am finishing this post the sun has come out – just goes to prove that you never know what the day will bring – so just enjoy it!
