An Easter Wedding on the Devon and Cornwall Border
I’m very pleased to be able to share this Easter wedding with you today. It was an exceptionally cold Easter weekend here in England, but this wedding on the site of Ali’s family Sawmill was quite an event nonetheless. Steve and Ali both live and work in the local areas of Tavistock and Gulworthy – they are in Devon but in spitting distance to my homeland of Cornwall. Ali and the girls started the day at Colcharton Farm B&B on the edge of Dartmoor, while Steve and the guys were at home. They had an Easter church service. I loved it when their kids came to join them at the alter at the end of the ceremony.
The reception was held at Bowrish Sawmill. The family spent months clearing one of their fields especially for the wedding and the marquee. They used the wood from the trees they felled as part of the table decorations and for cheese platters. This wedding was totally homespun – the best kind in my opinion. There were tonnes of homemade touches, and Ali’s aunt was in charge of the evening Paella. Oh, and there were a few Alpacas on site … that’s standard for a wedding isn’t it?! Congratulations Ali and Steve it was a pleasure to be part of your big day. Sarah and Bear x
